A cheerful, sociable spirit, a soul always filled with optimism and the laughter spread all over her face, ready to help when needed, and with the targets set so high as for her to be pleased and also make her parents proud.
This is how all the close persons knew Alexandra, the girl born in Cisnădie, who, 29 years ago saw the light of day for the first time. She spent her childhood in Sibiu, with her parents and the grandparents on the father’s side, but she also spent a great amount of time in Ilimbav with the grandparents on the mother side. During her studies, from the first grade up to the undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she was enrolled in the educational system of Sibiu. Her ambition and perseverance have increased so much that she wanted to reach beyond the boundaries of Cibin and follow a path towards the U.S. and Germany by means of labor programs dedicated to students. Eager to develop her education, upon finishing university (Modern Applied Languages – German, English) she continued to pursue her studies, choosing a new domain: economics. She managed the challenge very well and scored outstanding results also in this field. Further on, time wasn’t on her side anymore…in October, 2010, only two months after moving to Bucharest with her new job, satisfied and fulfilled, suddenly went to another world, due to health problems, unsuspected at that time. The image she had left behind was shaped by close friends and family, through a humanitarian association, which is bearing her name but also her most important traits: altruism and education. „The Charitable Association Alexandra Nanu” – AUAN, aims in helping children / teenagers in need, and especially in supporting the education of students and facilitating their access to everything that is necessary for studying and for a decent living.
Still here
After almost a year of existence, the The Charitable Association Alexandra Nanu – AUAN can be proud of many projects in which it took part, highlighting important results. The 22 founding members, friends and parents of Alexandra, wanted at all costs, that her name be remembered even after her rise to the Father Almighty, so that her kindness, dedication and involvement are present even in her absence. “Together with the members, the sponsors and the donors, partners and supporters we managed to lay the foundation of a mission which succeeded in providing more confidence and hope for the future of 20 students. The hope is on our side, that together we will make this a sustainable and efficient association in the humanitarian and social field, but also open, noble and carrying like its founder”, says Cristiana Tolomeiu, the president of the humanitarian organization, within the general assembly of the association, which united its members and at the same time, brought Alexandra among them. The photo in center of the table around which the members gathered, the optimism of the girl who, although left this world, is still doing good deeds among us. The people who founded this association are meant, in fact, to continue the mission Alexandra left behind, offering support where needed. AUAN was established as a non-governmental association, nonprofit and without any political obligation. A year ago, the president, the members of the executive board, the executive director, the censor, the lawyer and the bookkeeper were elected for a period of 12 months. Today, the association counts 26 active members, 3 volunteering members and 211 honorary members – remarkable personalities. All of them are dedicated to the AUAN projects and contributed to their implementation.
AUAN Gifts and Donations
As far as the external relations are concerned, even more partnerships were signed. In this regard, the association entered partnerships with Town Hall Sibiu, the Union Hall Sibiu, the Public Service for Social Assistance, and the County School Inspectorate, as well as with various associations.
Together they traced the project for 2012-2013, including 23 social surveys carried out for pupils in Sibiu and Bucharest, selected on the basis of school performance, age, which must be between 6 and 19, but also the income which should not exceed 500 lei per family member. Regarding the „Humanitarian Aid”, we can speak about the gifts and donations for the children that are within the attention of the association. They received food and sweets for Easter and Christmas and for the International Children’s Day and Whitsunday AUAN clothing received as a donation from Germany. Also, AUAN helped three children to go camping and on trips, which, otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to visit these places due to financial issues. The students enrolled in the AUAN project for 2012-2013 have beneficiated from both monthly scholarships between 150 and 200 RON, depending on the school level, and English lessons from the side of the AUAN volunteers.
Within the recent general assembly, important decisions were met regarding the management board. This way, the board of directors was reduced from 9 members to 5 and consists now of Anca Maria Oprean, president, Sandrina Crengăniş, vice-president, and Bogdan Frăţilă, Andreea Coman and Ioan Nanu, members.
Everything that AUAN managed within a year, results from the work of the volunteers, its active members, honorary members or of those who willingly took part in the activities or from their own initiative. Together they are aiming at bringing the hope and smile back to the children who are lacking it, as well as Alexandra would have done had she still been among us…
